Hearth and Hamlet Achievements: All 24 & Unlock Rates
The percentages below are Steam's own global unlock rates, so they double as a completion funnel: 98.6% of owners light the first campfire, 35.5% reach the coronation, and 2.7% finish on Intense. Reading them in order is the fastest way to see where most runs stop.
Opening the run
Almost everyone who starts the game clears these - they track the campfire-to-village stretch.
| Achievement | Unlocked by | Steam description | Where it falls |
|---|---|---|---|
| Humble Beginning | 98.6% | Hidden | The first minutes at the campfire. |
| A Place to Call Home | 94.5% | Hidden | Early settlement milestone, before the town square stage. |
| Hearth and Hamlet | 91.8% | Hidden | The title achievement, awarded as the camp becomes a hamlet. |
| First Contact | 84% | Hidden | Your first encounter with an outside force - the first raid warning stretch. |
Economy and research
The middle of the curve. The drop from 80.8% to 53.8% is where most abandoned runs stop.
| Achievement | Unlocked by | Steam description | Where it falls |
|---|---|---|---|
| Coin for the Realm | 80.8% | Hidden | First serious gold income, around the market unlock. |
| A Merchant's Tale | 68.3% | Hidden | Your first trade expedition. |
| Educated Minds | 67.7% | Hidden | The library and education line - the gateway to blueprints. |
| Walls of Stone | 60.6% | Hidden | Upgrading the wooden palisade to stone walls. |
| He's a Wizard | 58.7% | Hidden | Recruiting the wizard, which opens the magic line. |
| Just Pay It With Magic | 56.4% | Hidden | Spending magic as a currency for the first time. |
| Merchant Kingdom | 53.8% | Trade with Distant Kingdoms 20 times. | Repeat trading - the first genuinely grindy achievement. |
Late kingdom
Under half of owners reach these. They track the castle stage and the Ancient Evil arc.
| Achievement | Unlocked by | Steam description | Where it falls |
|---|---|---|---|
| A City Rises | 49.5% | Hidden | The city stage of settlement growth. |
| Standing Strong | 47.2% | Hidden | Surviving a major assault intact. |
| My Home and Castle | 45.9% | Hidden | Building the castle. |
| Ancient Evil | 41% | Hidden | The Ancient Evil event, which applies a large happiness penalty and pushes you toward the cathedral. |
| We love it here! | 38.1% | Reach a happiness of 200% | Requires policy discipline rather than progression. |
| A Kingdom is Born | 35.5% | Hidden | The coronation stage at the end of a run. |
Difficulty completions
Four difficulty levels, and the unlock rates fall off a cliff between each one.
| Achievement | Unlocked by | Steam description | Where it falls |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gentle Rule | 34.5% | Complete the game on Gentle difficulty. | The easiest of the four completion achievements. |
| Steady Hands | 26.5% | Complete the game on Steady difficulty. | The default-feeling difficulty. |
| Rising Challenge | 8.6% | Complete the game on Challenging difficulty. | Fewer than one owner in ten. |
| Against the Odds | 2.7% | Complete the game on Intense difficulty. | The rarest achievement in the game. |
Challenge runs
Restriction-based, not progression-based - each one changes how you play a whole run.
| Achievement | Unlocked by | Steam description | Where it falls |
|---|---|---|---|
| Master Builder | 30.6% | Fully upgrade your city. | Every building at maximum level. |
| Flawless Victory | 10.5% | Win the game without suffering any defeats. | No lost battle across an entire run. |
| Steadfast Resolve | 3.8% | Complete the game without ever trading with Ashenholt. | Ashenholt is the kingdom you fled; refusing its trade costs you an income line for the whole run. |
Unlock rates read:

What the funnel tells you
The two biggest drops are worth planning around. Between Coin for the Realm (80.8%) and Merchant Kingdom (53.8%) sits the stretch where the economy stops being a matter of adding workers - that is the storage cap and happiness wall covered in the happiness and policies guide. The second drop is between finishing on Steady (26.5%) and on Challenging (8.6%), which is a difficulty jump rather than a content jump; the difficulty guide covers what changes.
Chasing Steadfast Resolve (3.8%) means never trading with Ashenholt for a whole run - plan the alternative income first in the trade guide.
